The  idyllic village of Murg  lies on a peninsula on the southern shore of the Walensee. On the northern shore the impressive Churfirsten tower above the lake. Further south lie the Flumserberg and the Kerenzerberg mountains.

Above Murg, with its population of 800, lies the Murgtal  a popular  excursion destination with three mountain lakes as well as the Murg lake cabin. On the way to the Murgtal you walk through the largest  sweet chestnut forest north of the alps and other faunistic specialities which owe their existence to the particularly mild climate.
